The History of Crisp Point

Peter Coughlin, Keeper

Peter Coughlin was a lighthouse keeper at Crisp Point from May 25, 1913 to October 11, 1913. He became keeper at Crisp Point due to the death of keeper Jacob H. Gibb. Peter was born in Canada and his date of birth was June 12, 1856. He died on October 5, 1934. After Crisp Point, Mr. Coughlin was transferred to Tawas Point Light Station due to the resignation of James W. Brown.

Peter entered the US Lighthouse Service on April 15, 1902, after serving for 15 years in the US Lifesaving Service. He retired from the US Lighhouse Service on June 11, 1926. Total service to both branches was approximately 39 years.
